During a meeting with Sheridan, the Captain asked Michael to log all the Rangers onto the system with this requiring the White Star to be left unmanned and placed on auto-pilot. He also requested two items be transferred from the cargo bay onto the hip but when examining the manifest he saw it included two fusion bombs. Sheridan then asked that Garibaldi that as a favour to him not to ask or inquire about the matter but simply get the job done. Despite his reluctance, he decided to do the tasks assigned by the captain with the White Star crew moved from their ship along with bombs transferred to it. Afterwards, in the cover of night, Sheridan departed Babylon 5 on the White Star with Anna Sheridan where they made their way to Z'ha'dum with Garibaldi reporting this to Commander Ivanova. Sometime afterwards, the station came to be surrounded by Shadow vessels who planned to attack Babylon 5 if Captain Sheridan refused to join their cause. Garibaldi came to pilot a Starfury and was among the starfighters that launched to protect the station. At this point, Captain Sheridan crashed the White Star into the capital of Z'ha'dum where he detonated the hidden fusion bombs within it. The damage caused led to the Shadows pulling their forces back in retreat but not before one of their ships captured Garibaldi's starfighter. (Episode: Z'ha'dum) In the time afterwards, the galactic war had stopped with the seeming death of Captain Sheridan with Michael Garibaldi similarly missing. Garibaldi then requested to see his notes as he was evaluating the project and if he was not satisfied with it then he was going to terminate funding. It was then agreed that Garibaldi would come the next day to check on Bryson's notes. Meeting with Dr. Bryson, he found the man being somewhat unstable with the many showing no further interest in funding and telling Michael to leave. During this time, a string of mysterious incidents were afflicting the station whilst a dispute affected the personnel due to an unauthorised holobrothel operating on the station. With his business concluded, Garibaldi was prepared to return back to Mars but then Babylon 5 was approached by a Soul Hunter ship who revealed that Dr. Bryson had stolen a powerful vessel of souls from their Whisper Gallery and he had come to recover it.
