Around the Cold War, Father encountered a Mutant known as the Skinless Man recruited him into the weapon-building program known as Weapon Plus. He would have his natural abilities enhanced further and dispatched the Skinless Man as an intelligence gathering operative against the Soviets. (Uncanny X-Force v1 #22)
