By the modern day, Typhon had returned to Olympus where he was responsible for destroying the Temple of the Promethean Flame. Its destruction cause all the Olympians to be transported to the Land of Shades. Despite this victory, he was confronted by Hercules alongside his compatriots the Avengers who defeated him. With his defeat, the Olympians were restored to power whereupon Zeus banished Typhon to damnation in Hades. (Avengers v1 #49)
Whilst in Hades, he encountered a witch named Cylla who was a former oracle at Delphi and proved to be an ally. The witch was attracted to the Titan but he showed no interest in her but she assisted in freeing him from the Underworld. She took him to the Temple of Prometheus so that he could retrieve his axe only to suffer from pain made by the Promethean flames. It was during this moment that he battled the two guardians Kratos and Bia where he defeated them. (Marvel Premiere v1 #26)
