  • Phineas Horton was created by Carl Burgos where he made his first appearance in Marvel Comics v1 #1 (October 1939).

  • In Fantastic Four, the character did not appear nor named but made an indirect reference was made to him in the episode "When Calls Galactus". He was responsible for making a mechanical Human Torch as a combat robot for the military. His step-daughter Frankie Raye as a child went into his laboratory despite him forbidding her from going into the room. Once there, she saw the incomplete robot and accidently spilt some chemicals on herself allowing her to catch and control fire. The trauma of the incident was blanked from her mind and would not remember this event. Horton was not named or shown in the episode.

Films

  • In Captain America: The First Avenger, the character was referenced and named in the movie. His Synthetic Man was showcased at the 1945 Stark Expo that a young Steve Rogers visited prior to him becoming Captain America.
