After being resurrected by the Lazarus Pit, Thea began to suffer from bout of rage and uncontrolled aggression. This stemmed from the nature of the Pit as she observed all the negative emotions from previous users. Her feelings of anger and rage were directed at the one that had killed her. Thus, this could only be sated by her finding and killing Ra's al Ghul who was already slain which meant that these feelings could not be indulged. It was stated by her father Malcolm Merlyn that killing only alleviated the rage and was the only means of controlling it.
