Alternate Versions

  • In Fantastic Four: The End v1 (2006), an alternate world setting was shown which featured Subterranea. Long ago, the ancient ones plunged the Citadel of the Elder Gods from the surface deep beneath the earth to be surrounded by a lake of lava in Subterranea. Inside the structure was the Orb of Gnomon which was their greatest treasure and had the power to manipulate time without disrupting the timeline.
  • In the 100th Anniversary Special - Avengers v1 #1, Subterranea was devastated by the Gamma Floods which displaced the Moloids and their leader Moleman III who led his desperate people on a war against the Badoon ravaged surface world. This was until Doctor Strange cast a spell that rose the Yellowstone Caldera to the surface to create New Subterranea to which Moleman and the Moloids stopped hostilities in order to live there as their new home.
