Demogorgons were predatory creatures that were native to an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. They were shown as being part of the hive mind of the intelligence that controlled that realm with them being extensions of the Mindflayer.

In appearance, Demogorgons were beasts that went through various stages in their life cycle.
This stage were referred to as Demodogs.
It was shown that like other creatures native to their dimension that they were vulnerable to heat.
