Zenitsu Agatsuma (Japanese: 我妻 善逸, Hepburn: Agatsuma Zen'itsu) was a male human born centuries ago in the lands of Japan. As a young boy, he became financially supported by a woman who owned a lot of debt. She eloped with Zenitsu which passed the debt onto him leading to him getting into a lot of trouble. However, he was saved by Jigoro Kuwajima who was the former Thunder Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps who paid the debt but on the condition that Agatsuma become his pupil. Agatsuma was shown to possess a heightened sense of hearing allowing him to detect danger from the faintest of sounds. At its fullest potential, he was even able to hear the inner thoughts of other people.
From his mentor Jigoro Kuwajima, Zenitsu came to learn the Breath of Thunder Style (Japanese: 雷かみなりの呼こ吸きゅう, Hepburn: Kaminari no kokyū?) technique that increased his strength and agility in order to match the power of a Demon.
A talented and skilled Demon Slayer, Agatsuma denied these claims with his true strength emerging when he went to sleep.
As a Demon Slayer, he was provided a special Nichirin Swords (日にち輪りん刀とう Nichirin Tō?) which he used in his battles.
