Yasutora Sado (Japanese: 茶渡 泰虎, Hepburn: Sado Yasutora) was a male human born in Okinawa, Japan, where from a young age his parents took him to Mexico. After their deaths, he came to be adopted at 8 years old by '''Oscar Joaquín de la Rosa''' who Sado called him ''Abuelo'' (Spanish: "Grandfather"). During his early years, he was noted to had been extremely violent where he exploited his large size to intimidate any child that annoyed him. His grandfather had tried to teach Sado to be more gentle but his initial efforts were unsuccessful. One day, the fathers of the children bullied by Sado decided to punish him and attacked him as a result. This led to Oscar Joaquín stepping in where he took the punishment without any retaliation. Witnessing this act came to inspire Sado who looked to follow his grandfather in becoming a decent person. To commemorate this event, his grandfather gave him an old Mexican coin that served as a treasured item for Sado. Later on, Oscar Joaquín came to pass away leading to Sado taking a vow to never fight unless it was to protet others. This was to the case that he would do so even if his own life was n danger with the coin being a reminder and symbol of his vow. Unknown to either Chad or Ichigo, one of the fleeing gang members had let their phone on which was on a call to Yokochini who overheard Sado's past allowing him to know what to provoke him. This saw Yokochini abducting Chad and threatening to destroy the coin in his possession in an effort to provoke a reaction from him. Once again though, Ichigo arrived at the scene this time to protect not only Chad but also the coin he held so dear. When the gang was defeated, Chad and Ichigo made a pact to fight for each other and protect one another. In fact, their reputation led to them being portrayed as violent youths and made them appear to be juvenile gangsters. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Yasutora Sado was a male human of Mexican and Japanese descent with dark-skin and pronounced cheek-bones as well as wavy brown hair that had bangs that generally hung over his brown eyes. He had a muscular frame and was noted to be an extremely tall man that made him appear older than his actual age. Sado had a tattoo on his left shoulder which read as Amore e Morte ("love and death" in Italian) with this consisting of a heart that had a snake and angel wings around it. Ichigo first came to read Yasutora's name off a nametag where he pronounced his family name as Chad (チャド, Chado).
As a quiet person, he came to be the subject of jokes or bullying because he never fought back.
It was shown that he had a weakness for cute things such as small animals. This extended to Kon with Chad being one of the few people who actually treated the Mod Soul with any dignity but for the most part ignored him.
However, because of his constant involvement with gangsters, Chad gained a reputation as a ruthless gangster himself.
Chad was shown as being a loyal person who stood by his friends.
He did not enjoy finishing off a enemy that had lost the will to fight. Sado had said that it did not sit right with him to do so but against certain foes he could not allow himself to feel pity for an opponent.
His grandfather was Oscar Joaquín De la Rosa (オスカー・ホアキン・デ・ラ・ロサ, Osukā Hoakin De ra Rosa) who came to raise his grandson in their native Mexico following the death of Yasutora's parents.
One of his closest friends was Ichigo Kurosaki (黒崎 一護, Kurosaki Ichigo) who was a fellow student at Karakura High School. He and Ichigo had a long time friendship after the two having met each other whilst fighting off a group of bullies. Since then both decided to fight together with Chad becoming determined to train to become stronger in order to aid Ichigo in his fights. Chad had said that if Ichigo did something to put his life on the line then that was reason enough to support his friend.
Powers and abilities
Chad was shown as being very intelligent having ranked 11th out of 322 students in Karakura High School. Sado was born a human being though one with a remarkable level of strength where with little effort he lifted a steel beam that had fallen on him. As such, he had no special powers aside from his unusual strength and endurance. This allowed him to perform such moves as the Chad Catapult (チャド・カタプルト, Chado Katapuruto) which was a technique where he use his great strength to launch an ally at an enemy, particularly against flying foes that were normally out of reach. Another strength based move he used was Grua Tirar (クレーン投げ(グルーア・ティラール), Gurūa Tirāru; Japanese and Spanish for "Crane-Throw") which was a shoulder throw that allowed him to use his immense strength to throw even giant opponents. It was only after his encounter with the cockateel containing the soul of Yūichi Shibata that he began to detect the approximate locations of spirits and Hollows though he could not fully see them.
Chad came to be a spiritually aware human that were known as Fullbringers (完現術者 (フルブリンガー), Furuburingā; Japanese for "Full Manifestation Artist"). Their Fullbring (完現術 (フルブリング), Furuburingu; Japanese for "Full Manifestation Art") power allowed them to manipulate the soul that resided within matter. At first, it was believed that Yasutora's natural spiritual powers were pulled from the depths of his soul as a result of exposure to Ichigo's shinigami spiritual form but this was proven to be untrue as it was simply the activation of his latest Fullbringer powers. At first, he started to detect the approximate locations of spirits and hollows though could not fully see them. During a match between Uryū and Ichigo, Chad came to save Karin Kurosaki from a Hollow whereupon he began to fully see spirits. Over time, Sado acknowledged that his power was less like a Shinigami's or Quincy's and more like that of a Hollow. He took part in basic spirit energy control with Kūkaku Shiba where Sado demonstrated intensely strong and high levels of spiritual energy.
After his encounter with the supernatural, Sato came to develop a powerful that was referred to as Brazo Derecha de Gigante (巨人の右腕 (ブラソ・デレチャ・デ・ヒガンテ), Buraso Derecha de Higante; Spanish and Japanese for "Right Arm of the Giant") (Brazo Derecho del Gigante in the English dub and English manga). At first, it was thought that this power manifested following his encounter with the spiritual form of Ichigo Kurosaki on a regular basis. This led to he belief that this brought out Sado's own natural spiritual powers that were pulled from the depths of his soul. In reality, this power was the product of his Fullbring (完現術 (フルブリング), Furuburingu; Japanese for "Full Manifestation Art") that allowed him to manipulate the souls contained within matter. On first using his power, he claimed it awoke because of the pride that had been instilled in his heart by Oscar Joaquín de la Rosa and that the object that acted as the source of his Fullbring was the skin on his arm.
One of the the techniques he could use in this state was El Directo (巨人の一撃 (エル・ディレクト), Eru Direkuto; Spanish for "The Direct", Japanese for "One Strike of the Giant"). He was able to release a huge blast of spiritual energy that could either be used to augment his punches or fire as a concentrated medium to long-range attack.
He later developed a similar ability for his left arm which manifested as Brazo Izquierda del Diablo (悪魔の左腕 (ブラソ・イスキエルダ・デル・ディアブロ), Buraso Isukieruda Deru Diaburo; Spanish and Japanese for "Left Arm of the Devil").
