• The Circus of Crime was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby where they made their first appearance in Captain America Comics v1 #5 (August, 1941).

• In The Avengers: United They Stand, the Ringmaster's circus troupe appeared in the animated television series in the episode "Comes a Swordsman" though they were not referred to by name as the Circus of Crime. The Swordsman was shown to had been a member of the group as they performed various crimes under the cover of the circus. Among their targets was stealing the deadly Mythrax Bacteria which they intended to sell to the highest bidder. Hawkeye joined the circus after being removed from the Avengers and he did so in order to reunite with his old mentor Swordsman as he owed the man. This brought them into conflict with the Avengers who confronted the Ringmaster with the villain threatening to release the Mythrax but discovered it was missing as the Swordsman had absconded with it in order to sell it to another bidder.
