Yamane, Dr. Kyohei

Dr. Kyohei Yamane was Japan's foremost expert on paleontology in 1954, and thus he was chosen to head the inquest that would investigate rumors of a giant prehistoric monster being responsible for the destruction of several ships. He went to Ohto Island personally to lead the expedition, and encountered Godzilla firsthand. Despite the undeniable dangerousness of Godzilla, Yamane, as a scientist, felt that Godzilla should be studied, not destroyed.
After the first Godzilla's death by the Oxygen Destroyer, Dr. Yamane was called on as an expert by the military once again when a second Godzilla appeared alongside an Angilas, and threatened to destroy the city of Osaka.
