The Lamentation Pentacle was an amulet that featured in an episode of Legion of Superheroes.

Background

The Lamentation Pentacle was a circular ruby encrusted amulet of unknown origin that was discovered by the banished wizard Mordu after his magic was stripped of him on the Sorceror's World. Instead of completing the Trials as his peoples traditions dictated, Mordu searched the universe for a source of dark magic which he discovered on an unknown world and turned out to be the Lamentation Pentacle. After taking its power, he began his quest to take revenge on the elders of his world and begin his plan for universal dominance.

The amulet was extremely powerful and allowed Mordu to defend himself against powerful magic as well as capture his opponents. It was also capable of mystically sapping magical power from other wizards once the incantation was made. Due to the nature of its abilities, the Amulet was almost indestructable by ordinary means and actively fought against attempts at removing it. It was finally destroyed by the wizard Zyzx once he regained his magic after completing the trials and with the Legion's aid they managed to defeat Mordu.

Some of the abilities included:

• transforming individuals into darker demonic versions of themselves.
• make the worst fears of an individual reality.
• transforming reality into a darker grimmer vision of the users.
• drain magical power.
• create armies of demonic and undead minions at the users command.
