Martian Ghosts

The Martian Ghosts are a race of entities that feature in the movie Ghost of Mars.

Background

These Martan Ghosts were once a race of aliens that lived on the planet Mars who long ago vanished from the planet but not before sealing a spore that contained their essence within an ancient cavern that they left buried for the ages. When a Human expedition arrived on the red world, they accidently opened the seal of the cavern and the Martian Ghosts began possessing the Human inhabitants who began to kill the non-infected members of their kind.

The Martian Ghosts were incapable of being killed as they had no true body but rather infected the body of a host through which they acted. The host would slowly begin to change on a pscyhological level becoming more feral and animalistic. Any host that was killed in combat would have its 'ghost' leave the body and move to infect a new host. The infected hosts appeared incapable of masking themselves as Humans and spoke a completely different language; quite possibly the Martian language.
