Angel (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

The Angels are entities that feature in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

History

Angels (使徒, shito) were powerful beings that were the children of one of the Seeds of Life (生命の種, Seimei no Tane) that were artificial beings created by the First Ancestral Race to spread life onto planets throughout the Milky Way. Billions of years ago, one such Seed of Life contained Adam (katakana: アダム; Hebrew: בראשית ,אדם i:xxvi) who was sent to populate the planet Earth where he was transported to that world on the White Moon.

This resulted in the dispersal ofAdam’s children (アダムの子供達, Adamu no kodomotachi) across the planet.

Overview

They were described as being a near perfect life form that were entirely self-sufficient after eating from the Fruit of Life.

It was claimed that they existed to destroy mankind who had eaten from the Fruit of Wisdom.
