• April O'Neil was created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird where he made his first appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles v1 #2 (October, 1984).

• In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, April O'Neil appeared in the setting of the 1987 animated television series where she was voiced by actor Renae Jacobs.
• In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, April O'Neil appeared in the setting of the 2002 animated television series where she was voiced by actor Veronica Taylor.
• In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, April O'Neil appeared in the setting of the 2012 animated television series where she was voiced by actor Mae Whitman. She was the daughter of Kirby O'Neil and his wife who was experimented on by the Kraang whilst she was pregnant with a daughter. The Kraang's experiments were designed to ensure that the child who was April O'Neil would be born as a perfect human/Kraang mutant.
