Biography

Seth (Japanese: セス, Hepburn: Sesu?) was part of an experiment conducted by Shadaloo in creating artificial beings that were superior to organisms compared to ordinary humans. He was the 15th model of his kind out of 26 others. However, he began to harbor a desire to being the ultimate power in the world and claimed he was superior to his comrades. He eventually rose to the position of head of SIN; the weapon development division in Shadloo.

Seth also attempts to use Juri Han, a woman who possesses the Feng Shui Engine in her left eye that their company created who has a vendetta against Shadaloo. She confronts Seth and unexpectedly offers to work for them, to which they agree.

Seth hosts a World Warrior tournament in hopes of luring Ryu, and then using the Satsui no Hado to complete their BLECE project, but is dismayed at reports that M. Bison has once again returned from death. M. Bison finally encounters Seth and defeats them in combat, afterwards telling Seth that in fact everything that has happened has gone according to M. Bison's plan. After M. Bison leaves, Juri tells Seth that she intentionally pitted the two against each other, but is disappointed that Seth was not more of a challenge for M. Bison. She then crushes his Tanden Engine, leaving Seth dead and twitching on the floor.

The remnants of Seth's biological brain were later paired with one of the Dolls where it took root in Doll Unit Zero. Activated by Juri on behalf of an unknown party, the artificial intelligence coming online in the new feminine body.

Overview

Personality and attributes

They noted that power only had meaning if it was capable of being put into action and that this defined a person. Seth stated that such power allowed one to rule the world and it was this reason that everyone sought it. It stated that power helped one grow in strength with this goal being out of the reach of ordinary people. Individual were said to constantly compare themselves to others in order to cover their own inadequacies and find a peace of mind. It was this that led to the poor being said to seek riches whilst the ugly sought to be beautiful. Seth stated that the mere existence of those better than a person was seen as intolerable to the human state of mind and that they fought this retaliation. It stated that if beauty was not enough then a person sought an alternative in money and if that was not enough then it changed into the need to resort to violence. Seth stated that this energy was what powered the world and essential in its functioning with itself seeking to help this natural process with this destructive force creating conflict. The artificial intelligence intended to spread this 'power' that everyone sought to all over the world.

Powers and abilities

The core of his body served as the base of a Tanden Engine (丹田エンジン Tanden Enjin?) that was a large spherical machine capable of artificially generating and harnessing qi.

Notes

  • Seth was created by Yoshinori Ono where he featured in the setting of the Mortal Kombat universe.
  • Originally, the character was going to be named Abel but was renamed Seth after former senior Capcom community manager Seth Killian.
  • In an interview, Matt Edwards commented, "You may be wondering why Seth looks somewhat different than in Street Fighter IV. In truth, Seth is more machine than human, and was never male or female to begin with. Seth’s exact origins were never made abundantly clear, but this character didn’t make it through the events of Street Fighter IV entirely unscathed. The form you see here is the remnants of Seth’s biological brain paired with the body of Doll Unit Zero. It’s a different look, to be sure, but Seth still speaks with the same voice and craves both M. Bison’s demise and data on the strongest fighters."
  • There is some similarity with the character of S.E.T.H. from the Universal Soldier series.
