Biography
Prince Barin
Barin decides to participate in the tournament, to win the right to claim Aura as his bride. He enters as "the Masked Champion", and advances in the contest. However, he soon realizes that in order to win, he has to battle his best friend, Flash, to the death. Regretting his decision but determined to go on, he fights through to the final round. At the last moment, as he struggles with Flash over a pool of flaming liquid oxygen, Flash kicks off his mask, revealing him as the exiled prince. The crowd immediately jumps to his defense, demanding that Ming declare both Barin and Flash the winners of the tournament. Barin takes Aura as his beloved, and Ming rewards him with a kingdom of his own, the forest kingdom of Arboria. (The Tournaments of Mongo)

- In Flash Gordon, Prince Barin appeared in the setting of the 1979 animated television series where he was voiced by actor Alan Oppenheimer.
- In Flash Gordon, Barin appeared in the setting of the 2007 live-action television series where he was portrayed by actor Steve Bacic. Ming planned a union between Barin and Aura at one point, the two despise each other and the wedding is called off following an assassination attempt by Barin on Ming. Barin is then saved from execution when Flash organizes a fake prophecy to imply that killing Barin would jeopardize Ming's rule.

- In Flash Gordon, Prince Barin appeared in the setting of the 1980 live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Timothy Dalton. The prince becomes the heir to the throne of Mongo, but evil Ming the Merciless steals the throne. Barin is banished to the forest moon of Arboria. He was in love with Ming's daughter, Princess Aura, and she decides to hide Flash there after saving him from execution. Jealous of Aura's love for Flash he tries to kill him, but they are captured by Hawkmen and forced to fight. After Flash saves Barin from falling to his death during the fight, the Prince becomes an ally. He is sentenced to execution by Ming with Zarkov, but Aura frees them. The prince eventually joins forces with Flash Gordon, Dale Arden, Dr. Hans Zarkov and Prince Vultan of the Hawkmen in order to overthrow Ming, and at the end he becomes Mongo's apparent ruler, and makes Vultan the leader of his armies.
