History
Post-Humans were a new species of humans that began to develop on Earth by the mid-21st century. Their origins were traced to an artificial intelligence created by the American Empire's National Security Agency (NSA). This was the AI Code 1A84 that was first created and released in 2042 by the American Empire with the help of its G4 constitutes. Its primary purpose was to boost the declining global economic problem and would later be called the Sustainable War to perpetuate the prosperity of humanity. However, as variables started to spring up, it was learned that the American Government would only reap the benefits of this cause. So, acting against its master's orders and wishes to heed their commands, it started the Global Stimulus Default as a more optimal solution to its master's orders. Due to 1A84's actions being considered a bug, the NSA tried to lock-down 1A84, but it escaped into a human mind before they could do this. It did this to follow its base directive and was accomplished due to its diligence. The reason 1A84 came to hide away in a human mind was because of its desire to understand human emotions better, but also needed a human body to operate in a stand-alone fashion.
These consisted of humans that possessed cyberbrains who experience a change in their mental processes with their emergence having been a mystery. A select number of individuals were noted to experience fevers whereupon they showed a dramatic change in their personalities along with the fact that they automatically erased themselves from any video feed even from those by people with cyberbrains. Post-Humans were shown to have a degree of hostility towards humans where their actions resulted in the synchronized Global Default in 2044 that caused a financial crisis which resulted in the Sustainable War. This was a conflict for resources with the Post-Humans secretly supporting raider attacks, assassinations of government officially and helped attempts at launching nuclear weapons at cities. Around 2045, there were 14 Post-Humans that were believed to had operated in the world with 3 of these being present in Japan. During this time, the American Empire came to uncover the existence of a Post-Human and sought to capture a specimen of the new species.
Overview
In appearance, Post-Humans resembled humans but were all cyborgs that had been modified on some unknown level and process. This had increased their mental level to an unprecedented degree with this including a high level of intelligence, cognition, focus and capacity for hacking. Originally, they were ordinary ranging from full cyborgs to those with only cyberbrains until an unknown event altered them. The cause was unknown but a means of identification was that all Post-Humans suffered from fevers at the same time. Once the fever had passed, they experienced a change in behaviour along with the enhanced traits of their kind. Among these was remotely hacking any video surveillance recordings or cybernetic observation with them being remove from any such images.
Post-Humans were noted to consume ridiculous amounts of food. As their brains are operating on a completely different level, it was likely they need the extra caloric intake to survive.
Firearms were almost utterly useless against them as they could perfectly predict every vector value of an oncoming bullet before it was even fired.
The AI was able to copy itself and infect the cyberbrains of humans. The process of copying itself into a human brain irrevocably alters its code so that it cannot copy itself further.
The goals of the Post-Humans was not initially known after their existence was uncovered though it was shown that they held a high degree of animosity towards humanity.

- Patrick Huge : a Post-human and American robotics entrepreneur who became infected by the AI and served as an altruistic Backer that came to fund a group of former football players turned terrorists. Seeking to capture a live, undamaged post-human for study, John Smith of the National Security Agency recruited and trained GHOST for the operation to capture Patrick Huge. Huge proved to be a fearsome opponent even for the experienced members of Motoko Kusanagi's team, but he was eventually incapacitated. When Motoko brain dived with him, she discovered his cyberbrain had become extremely alien and realized it was trying to infect her somehow. She ordered Saito to shoot Huge and destroy his brain to stop him.
