Benvento Chieti Bordighera (1746-1771) was a gifted Italian composer born in Rome. He wrote the opera "Massa di Requiem per Shuggay" in 1768. After that opera's first and only performance, it was banned in 1769 by Pope Clement XIII. Bordighera was imprisoned for heresy a year later, and executed a year after that.
