Blower

"Blower" was the name James T. Kirk used for a Starfleet communicator during his time on Sigma Iotia II. Dr. McCoy left his "blower" on the planet when they left, and the USS Enterprise crew worried that this might have repercussions.

Expanded Universe

In the second DC Comics series, this had no repercussions- the "blower" was returned to McCoy some decades later by Iotian Bela Oxmyx.

However, according to the book The Worlds of the Federation and the second Marvel comic, the Iotians used the technology from the "blower" to create a culture superficially like 23rd-century Starfleet by the time of the 24th century.
