Comic book produced by Archie Comics, based on the animated series but quickly establishing its own unique history, based in part on the toy line and in part on original characters. Tone-wise, it combined parts of the lighthearted animated series tone and the grim world of the original Mirage series. Led to two spin-offs, Mighty Mutanimals and Conservation Corps, as well as numerous special issues. An upcoming mini-series, The Forever War, will wrap up the last storyline from the comic.
