Substance D was a drug that featured in A Scanner Darkly.
Background
Substance D, also referred to as "Slow Death", dampens the link between the left and right hemispheres of the brain when taken by the user and caused vivid hallucinations. It was known to be lethally addictive and long term use resulted in the development of two separate mutually unaware personalities.
