The Sunstone was an artifact that featured in DC Comics.
History
At an unknown period many years ago, Admiral Zod commanded a fleet of numerous Kryptonian warships made of the Sunstone substance which were used to invade starsystems near Rao. The modular nature of the ships made them indefatible until Zod's flagship broke away from his forces where it crashed on the planet Earth in 1938 where it was buried in Texas.
Background
The Sunstone was a programmable crystalline mineral that was indigenous to the planet Krypton. Its self replicatable nature make it an ideal architectural tool and was used in the construction of buildings as well as space faring starships. The destruction of Krypton meant that most Sunstone deposits were destroyed though some trace amounts have been discovered.
