Jim Fanning was MI6's resident art expert. He identified the Faberge egg recovered by 009 as a fake, and accompanied James Bond to the auction for the real one, where it was purchased by Kamal Khan - after Bond had switched the real egg for the recovered false one, to Fanning and M's annoyance.
