Captain Donahue
Captain Donahue was an American sea captain whose help was enlisted by Ruth Thomas to track down her missing fiance, Edward Parker. Using information obtained by the unscrupulous Captain Davies, Donahue tracked Parker to a small, unnamed island in the Pacific belonging to a Dr. Moreau.
Upon arriving, Donahue left his men to guard the ship, and went ashore with Ruth, where they were greeted warmly by Moreau, shown an uninjured Parker, and treated to dinner. They were quickly revealed as captives however. Moreau planned to use Ruth and Parker to mate with his bestial creations; Parker with the seductive Lota and Ruth with the fierce Ouran.
Formulating a plan of escape, Donahue armed himself with a revolver, and made a run through the jungle, hoping to get to the beach and signal his crew. Then he would return with them and storm Moreau's enclosure to rescue the others. He never made it, as Moreau had anticipated a break, and commanded Ouran to kill Donahue. Ouran was waiting in the trees and dropped onto the captain from above, strangling him to death.
