- In Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince Dastan was the protagonist in the 2010 live-action film where he was portrayed by actor Jake Gyllenhaal. He was a street urchin who caught the eye of King Sharaman of Persia who adopted the boy into his family after being impressed with him. Dastan was raised as a prince of the kingdom with him living alongside the king's biological sons Tus and Garsiv whilst he looked up to his adoptive father and respected his uncle Nizam.
