History

The Black Lance was created secretly by Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn to fight not only the Union of Border Worlds, but any 'human' forces which were deemed unfit to help either shape or succeed in ushering humanity to a higher plain of power within the universe. The operations of the force were handled by Tolwyn's protégé Seether. Seether, is not only a majorly skilled pilot- but he is also a man who does not show remorse in killing. This is understood as the player watches cutscenes at different periods in the game where Seether kills large groups of people- not only to further the goals of the Black Lance, but also because as a participant of the G.E. program (Genetic Enhancement), he believes that Christopher Blair is not a pilot who can stop him. He does respect Blair's skills as a pilot, in fact- after killing everyone aboard a Terran Confederation space station- he initiated a transmission and calls Blair by name, even though Blair has no idea who he is.

The Black Lance made attacks which were also directed against Confederation vessels, which aimed to imitate attacks by the Border Worlds, in order to convince the Confederation senate that the Border Worlders were roguish pirates and terrorists. Among the attacks carried out by the Black Lance were bioweapon assaults by unmarked fighters against the planet FT957 in the Telamon System. Any person who's DNA did not match the standards for physical and mental attributes set by the Black Lance were killed.

The activities of the organization are discovered by Christopher Blair on a covert mission to infiltrate their base in the Axius system, with him realizing that Tolwyn has been behind the reigns of the Black Lance not only as a supporter, but as their commander- all the while using his influence and power within Confed to make sure that events go as he and Seether have planned. After being called out by Blair in the Senate Committee, Tolwyn admits his actions before the Senators and is arrested for warcrimes. At his trial, many of the characters whom supported or were spared by Blair act as witnesses to the Admiral's actions, and because of this- it is reported that Tolwyn is slated to die by execution. This doesn't happen however, as the last time you see him, he has hung himself in his cell. Throughout the course of Tolwyn's trial and death, Confed arrests or destroys the surviving Black Lance forces and strips it of its combat capabilities. By the end of 2674, the Black Lance were a thing of the past.

Overview

The organization used highly advanced fighters called Dragons which had the capability of becoming invisible at any time.
