The Auditors of Reality
They came to believe that Death had grown to be too sympathetic towards humanity and thus they decided to force him to retire. However, Azrael intervened due to being the Death of the Universe and ruler of all Deaths whereupon he overturned this decision which allowed for Death to return to his job. (Reaper Man)
Overview
It was said that the Auditors could not be described in ordinary language. Death came to refer to them as servants and watchers like himself that were able to appear before Azrael. (Reaper Man) The Auditors were said to be running the universe and ensured that gravity worked whilst the atoms spun. (Hogfather)
