Biography
Calvin Zabo was a male human born on Earth in the modern age. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
It was said he had been fired from every job he had held and had a notorious reputation. He then approached Dr. Donald Blake several months ago where he intended to ask to work for him and secretly planned to rob him in the process. However, upon meeting Dr. Blake, the man came to refuse and he was asked to leave the building with this act humiliating Zabo. Upon leaving, he vowed revenge against Blake and looked to attain powers as a result where he created a chemical that drew out his baser more stronger nature which created his Mr. Hyde persona. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99) According to one account, he had regular 'business' with a prostitute by the name of Kim Johnson with the woman becoming pregnant with his child. However, his daughter Daisy Johnson was given away for adoption. (Secret War: From the Files of Nick Fury v1 #1) In reality, the girl's mother had a lineage to the Inhumans with Daisy eventually manifesting powers. (S.H.I.E.L.D. v3 #7)
He then made his way to the practice of Dr. Donald Blake in order for him to repay an old debt owed to Mr. Hyde. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)

Personality and attributes
In appearance, Calvin Zabo was a male human with brown hair who wore glasses. After developing his chemical formula, he came to transform into a baser form that he called Mr. Hyde. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
His features led to people being terrified of him as they claimed they had never seen anyone so repulsive and frightening. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
For years, he had been fascinated by the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde where he came to wonder if it was more than an imaginary story that could have happened in real life. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
It was said that as a result of the change to Mr. Hyde that he developed a hatred of the human race and a desire to triumph over the weaker race of mankind. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
Powers and abilities
Zabo conducted experiments to find a way of changing a human being so that their more baser nature took over them. It was said that his strength had magnified a dozen times over thus giving him the strength that made him as powerful as 12 normal humans. (Journey into Mystery v1 #99)
