Biography
Origin
Frederick "Fred" Myers
He was later suspended from baseball due to a scandal involving him accepting bribes. With his career ruined, he was unemployed when he was approached by the Secret Empire where they offered him a job as a costumed supervillain mercenary with him being given the name Boomerang. (Superior Foes of Spider-Man v1 #1)
Boomerang was later given an assignment by the Secret Empire to steal the U.S. Army's new Orion missile. This involved an ambush of a jeep carrying Glenn Talbot where the costumed Fred came to abduct Betty Ross. The intention was to hold her hostage in order to blackmail her father General Ross to hand over the missile. (Tales to Astonish v1 #81)
Boomerang
Myers later came to employed by the Rose who was engaging in a drug-running operation involving Ebony. These operations were disrupted by the superhero Jackpot with Boomerang failing to stop her. Despite that, they came to uncover the vigilante's secret identity and went to her home where he killed her husband and nearly murdered her daughter Sydney. (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot v1 #2) He nearly killed Sara Ehret but was injured using his own boomerang allowing for Jackpot to escape the scene with her daughter. Taking her child to safety, Jackpot then sought revenge with Spider-Man accompanying her to prevent her from killing Myers. She then confronted Boomerang where she beat him unconscious allowing him to be arrested and taken into custody. (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot v1 #3)

During the Secret Empire, Hydra took over the United States with Boomerang establishing himself as a big mob boss in this time. He came to run black markets and running favours for a price with him giving some of these to superheroes who were operating as freedom fighters at the time. After Hydra was overthrown, Myers used the good will he made by helping the heroes into earning a complete pardon for every crime he had committed. This led to leading figures allowing him to be let off free due to the debt owed to Boomerang. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #6)
Whilst with Randy and Peter, he came to learn that Parker knew much about Spider-Man's career as he had taken pictures of the Wall-Crawler. This led to Myers asking Peter to join him for something where he promised he would pay all the expenses along with handling all the rent at their place. He then took Parker to the Bar With No Name where he had Peter take part in Spider-Man trivia night where the villains had lined up questions about Spider-Man and the winner getting a cash prize. With Peter's knowledge, he intended to win the quiz and during this time Myers received a call from the Kingpin who was calling upon a favour from Boomerang. However, he refused as he felt he was not being respected much with nothing being offered to him thus leading to Fred shutting the phone on Mayor Wilson. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #6) Whilst with Parker, all the supervillains in the bar turned on the pair as Mayor Wilson had offered a great reward for dealing with Boomerang. Thus, the villains attempted to claim on the reward even though normally there was a ban on any fighting within the Bar With No Name. Myers and Parker worked together in trying to defend themselves against the horde of supervillains with Boomerang even being injured whilst trying to protect Peter. He managed to get them to escape by throwing an explosive boomerang giving the pair the chance to leave with Fred stating that he was hoping to be a better person and that this incident meant that Parker could accept him as a friend. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #7)
Frederick fled to the surface with the Tablet but him and Spider-Man were pursued by Gog. After throwing an explosive boomerang, the pair saw that Gog fetched the weapon in order to return it to Myers. It was then that Spider-Man asked Boomerang to throw a sleeparang into a truck where the Pym Particles in Gog's body activated to shrink him to his natural size whereupon he was knocked out by the gas. With the threat contained, Dyers took Gog in as a pet where the extraterrestrial life form stayed in the apartment that he shared with Peter Parker and Randy Robertson. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #43)

Within baseball, he came to be a star pitcher and was glamorous during this time with sports writers saying that he had potential to be the greatest. (Tales to Astonish v1 #81)
In one instance, he was shown not above murdering a man and his daughter. (Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot v1 #2)
Powers and abilities
Fred was noted for being a highly skilled pitcher with these talents being used in his career as a supervillain. He was able to throw objects with incredible level of skill, speed and accuracy with him only needing a moment to get a good shot. Boomerang was said to be ambidextrous allowing him to use both arms when he used his weapons. (Tales to Astonish v1 #81)
Initially, he made use of small red metal discs that he could throw at targets. The discs were strong enough to break steering wheels and rifles. (Tales to Astonish v1 #81)
