History

The Prime Eternal was a position held by the leader of the Eternals. (Eternals v1 #5)

After his escape, Thanos came to find an ally in Druig who suggested that his next course of action to repair his makeshift body was to become Prime Eternal. At first, the Mad Titan scoffed at this idea as he did not believe he could be voted to this position but Druig had manipulated events to ensure his rise to power. The key to this was by entering the Uni-Mind and battling Zuras who was calling a vote of his fellow Eternals in order to decide the fate of those who learnt the truth of their resurrection power that came at the cost of human lives. In the midst of the Uni-Mind, Thanos entered where he forced Zuras out and battled his uncle who he ultimately managed to murder. He then proceeded to kill Druig after which he was hailed as the Prime Eternal of Earth. (Eternals v5 #7)
