Doctor Nefarious is a male video game character who features in Ratchet & Clank.

Biography

Origin

Doctor Nefarious was originally an organic lifeform who came to attend the same high school at Qwark. The pair met at Mr. Bozell's ninth-grade biology class which Nefarious hated which stemmed from Qwark bullying him constantly.

Years later, he created a biological menace known as the amoeboids which he unleashed upon Blackwater City on planet Rilgar with the goal of exterminating all life there. Captain Qwark came to be notified of this incident by the President leading him to help secure a victory over the creatures. This forced Doctor Nefarious to flee Blackwater City in disgrace where he swore vengeance on the city.

Driven insane by the experience, Nefarious soon resurfaced and unleashed a swarm of robotic insects on the city of Metropolis on planet Kerwan to get revenge on Qwark who confronted and defeated him again.

One of his most notable offense was his attempt to misuse The Great Clock for his own twisted purposes.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Doctor Nefarious took the form of a tall, humanoid robot with a green, transparent, egg-shaped head-dome featuring gears and cogs inside along with brightly colored red eyes.

Nefarious was characterised as being a deranged, eccentric, egomaniacal scientist who sadistically showed no remorse for his actions with him showing pleasure at his villainy.

He was known for being a vile, evil, ruthless supercriminal who put multiple galaxies in jeopardy. This led to him being placed at the top of the Galaxy's Most Wanted list. It was shown that he was not above having a whole planet exterminated for daring to call him insane.

It was shown that he was very conceited with many of his creations being made in his own image.

Doctor Nefarious was assisted in his schemes by his butler Lawrence. He was once shown to had granted his aide paid paternity leave.

Powers and abilities

Among his creations included:

• Nefarious Space Station : it possessed a superlaser that was powered by a hypernova.
• Biobliterator : a superweapon that converted organic matter into robotic material.

• Doctor Nefarious was created by Insomniac Games where he featured in the setting of the Ratchet & Clank universe.
• IGN came to list Doctor Nefarious as 65th in a list of Top 100 Videogame Villains.

• In Ratchet & Clank, Doctor Nefarious appeared in the setting of the 2016 animated film where he was voiced by actor Armin Shimerman.
