Zeke Yeager (Japanese: ジーク・イェーガー, Hepburn: Jīku Yēgā?) was a male human born in Marley as the son of Grisha Yeager and Dina Fritz. As a child, his parents planned to overthrow the Marleyan government with them looking to put the Eldians into power. Around this time, the Marleyan government announced the Warrior program where Eldian children were to be train as Warriors in order to inherit the power of one of the Nine Titans within the country's possession. Potential Warriors were provided incentive to join with the promise that their families wold receive the title of Honorary Marleyans thus ensuring greater freedom in the nation. Grisha decided to enter Zeke into the program though this was to serve as a spy for the Eldian Restorationists (エルディア復権派 Erudia Fukken-ha?) cause in Liberio (レベリオ Reberio?).

Paradis Island Operation

Five years later, Zeke came to travel with Pieck and a small number of Marleyan soldiers to Paradis Island in order to infiltrate the Walls.

Return

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Zeke Yeager was a tall human male with a broad and well-toned body with gray eyes, shaggy platinum blond hair, as well as a matching moustache and beard. As a Warrior Candidate, he came to inherit the power of one of the Founding Titans with him becoming the Beast Titan (獣の巨人 Kemono no Kyojin?). In that state, he was a humanoid 17 meter tall Titan with a distinct ape-like form with dark fur covering much of his body and he possessed pointed ears and teeth.

Over time, he came to conclude that the life of Eldians was one of suffering and that it was better if no more of their kind were born into the world. Such a move would also help free humans from the fear of the Titans. Zeke later came to learn that the Founding Titan could alter the biology of all the Subjects of Ymir. Thus, he sought to attain the power to use it to sterilise all the Eldians thus leading to their eventual extinction within 100 years.

His parents were Grisha Yeager (グリシャ・イェーガー Gurisha Yēgā?) and Dina Fritz (ダイナ・フリッツ Daina Furittsu?) with Zeke being related to the Eldian royal family from his mother's side. He came to have a half-brother by the name of Eren Yeager (エレン・イェーガー Eren Yēgā?) from his fathers side after Grisha Yeager was exiled from Marley. Eren came to be the only person he truly cared about as he felt that they were both victims of their father.

Within the Warrior Unit, he came to gain a mentor and instructor in Tom Ksvaer who was the former Beast Titan bearer.

Powers and abilities

He was a descendant of the Fritz royal family with this being through his mother's side. As an Eldian, he was one of the Subjects of Ymir (ユミルの民 Yumiru no Tami?) that gave him the Power of the Titans (巨人の力 Kyojin no Chikara?, also translated as Titan power). He came to inherit the power of the Beast Titan (獣の巨人 Kemono no Kyojin?) were he could transform into a 17-meter tall hairy Titan with long arms. Unlike other Titans, the Beast Titan retained the ability to speak allowing him to communicate with people in this state. Zeke's talent as a pitcher translated into his Titan form as well where the Beast Titan was able to grow projectiles over great distances. In one instance, he was able to destroy an entire fleet using explosive shells.

Within Marley, he came to be a member of the Warrior Unit (戦士隊 Senshi-tai?) who were all Subjects of Ymir to fight the nation's wars. He came to hold the rank of Captain (戦士長 Senshi-chō?) within the unit and was a senior figure in the Marleyan military.
