Biography
Origin
Clifford Zmeck
At some point, he came to serve in the U.S. military where he became a second class supply sergeant attached to the 601st Airborne. On 6th October [[1968, he was off-base where he was responsible for the rape and murder of Elaine Alard. He came to be arrested and court martialled by the Air Force in January 1969 where he was sentenced to life imprisonment with no hope for parole. (Captain Atom v2 #12)
At a press conference, Captain Atom came to unveil Major Force to the public where he was introduced as a new hero. (Captain Atom Annual v2 #1)
However, he was saved by the Quorum who made Major Force into one of their superpowered agents. This saw them improving on his powers by adding some of Guy Gardner's DNA allowing him some limited shape shifting ability. With this power, he then went out to get revenge on Guy Gardner. (Guy Gardner: Warrior v1 #44)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
Overview
Personality and attributes
As part of the Major Force Project, he was given the code name of Major Force. (Captain Atom v2 #12)
It was said that he was an utterly unredeemable person who was savage and depraved with Zmeck representing the rock-bottom of the human race. (Captain Atom v2 #12) Dr. Megala had commented that Zmek was little more than an animal. It was commented that Major Force had one hell of a temper. Clifford was said to have a unique approach to one-on-one combat. (Captain Atom Annual v2 #1)
Powers and abilities
Originally, Zmeck was an ordinary human with no innate abilities. This changed when he was taken for the Major Force Project where he was locked in a containment sphere composed of an impenetrable UFO metallic alloy. As part of the project, an additional 200% more metal alloy was used to encase him. This was with with the intention of both ensuring the success of the subject but also for Clifford Zmeck to manifest greater quantum potential than the subject of the Captain Atom Project. (Captain Atom v2 #12) He as bestowed with a parallel power that plugged him into a field that was different from the Quantum Field. As such, he demonstrated different powers where he could project high-velocity solid matter.
This became an alien exo-shell that covered his skin making him a human hybrid of human flesh and extraterrestrial metal. (Captain Atom v2 #12) It was said that this made him near invulnerable. Upon gaining his powers, his body went through a molting process until it achieved his new form. (Captain Atom Annual v2 #1)
The Quorum came to improve upon Major Force by incorporating some of Guy Gardner's Vuldarian DNA which gave the villain the ability to shape his body into objects. He could turn his limbs into bladed weapons or into a gun to help him better channel his energy. (Guy Gardner: Warrior v1 #44) In one case, he could extrude some of his substance in order to encase a person in his skin so that they would suffocate from lack of air. (Guy Gardner: Warrior v1 #43)
