Biography

Scrap-Iron
It was believed that Scrap-Iron was a product designer for Destro's armaments company where he carried out initial field testing on all new armor piercing munitions and sub-munitions. He sets up de-commissioned B.A.T.s where he blasted them away in order to product test weapons in the field.
Scrap-Iron came to be placed in charge of an elite arctic assault squad that guarded Cobra weapon plants in the Arctic.
Devil's Due
The members of the Phoenix Guard were Cobra agents in disguise, but for Cobra Commander's elaborate ruse to succeed, each member of the team needed doctored military records and manufactured personal histories. Scrap-Iron's fabricated identity was Mech whose real name was Timothy P. Janes who was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mech's specialties were explosive ordnance, demolitions, information technology and engineering. He received basic training at Fort Benning, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training at Redstone Arsenal and Eglin Air Force Base. He also completed Airborne School at Fort Benning, and Air Assault School at Fort Campbell. He was the team's explosives ordnance and demolitions expert.

Overview
Personality and attributes
Scrap-Iron was said to be methodical and precise where imperfection in any form repelled him. He plotted moves, counter-moves and counter counter-moves as he anticipated all possible scenarios for a given situation. Whatever happened, he wanted to have a plan in place to defeat the enemy. Others were frequently irritated for his constant demands for perfection. It was said that perhaps that was why he wanted to blow up the world. He was tolerated by everyone because he ultimately got the job done where he disabled all enemy vehicles that approached them.
It was said that he loved to disable vehicles where he typically used weapons that went 'bang' loudly and made a large mess.
Powers and abilities
His area of specialization was remote-launched, laser-guided, rocket-propelled piezo-electric fused anti-tank weapons. These weapons were categorized beyond being 'smart' and were regarded as being 'brilliant'.
