History

The Church of Necessary Evil or Necessarius (必要悪の教会ネセサリウス Hitsuyōaku no Kyōkai (Nesesariusu)?, lit. "Church of Necessary Evil") was a branch of the English Puritan Church that formed long ago in England. Due to the fact that Great Britain is a magical country, the Church of England were forced to do witch hunts, heretic hunts, and inquisitions, developing an anti-magician culture. Eventually, their operations materialized into massacres and executions. The fracturing in the Church as a result of ideas being mixed with politics whereby each faction wanted to follow a different path even though they all shared a common belief in God. Over time, the factions evolved into different characters that suited to their respective beliefs. Thus, the English Puritan Church was formed but due to England being a land of magic then anti-sorcery practices such as witch hunts became a common place over the centuries. In the end, in order to defeat magicians that are rampant in the country. As a result, they created a special branch for such cases whereupon it was charged with investigating magic and developing countermeasures against sorcerers thus leading to the formation of the Church of Necessary Evil. However, because of the fact that they used magic, they were viewed poorly by the Church, and have been chased out of Canterbury Cathedral, which is the base of the Archbishop of Canterbury, leader of the Church of England, and sent to St. George's Cathedral. However, since the Church made numerous contributions behind the scenes, allowing for them to build a profile and power within the Church of England. Today, the power of Canterbury Cathedral has waned, and is only seen as a figure head of the Church of England, as the true decision-making powers have now transferred to St. George's Cathedral.

Overview

In appearance, Necessarius was the secret 0th Parish in the Church of England that operated as a covert branch charged with the important duty of conducting both supernatural and magical experiments in order to combat any threats posed by such forces. It was first created by English Puritans who despised magic but due to the fact that Britain was a magical country, they decided to learn to use it in order to counter its effects even though they were disgusted with its usage. This meant that they were despised by purists and forced out of Canterbury whereupon the Church of Necessary Evil began operating in the background, behind the scenes where they began to develop their power base over time. This led to them being based at St. George's Cathedral in London where they became the main power behind the Puritans.

The Church of England specializes in inquisitions and anti-magic. Necessarius was born out of the need to deal with the magicians that ran rampant in Great Britain. In the end, in order to defeat magicians, the Church became a magical organization themselves. This unique trait of being both a religious and magical organization that is against, has Necessarius carry qualities of both types of organization.

Their nature meant that they were close allies of the Vatican and utter rivals of the Russian Orthodox Church known as the Annihilatus. However, the Necessarius eventually formed an alliance with Academy City to combat the Roman Catholic Church.
