Archmage (DC)

The Archmage was a powerful magical entity bound at the center of the Sorcerers' World by beings considered mythical by the gods of Olympus. In the 30th century, he broke free, unleashing wild and uncontroloed magic across the universe. Opposed by the Legion of Super-Heroes, the Archmage eventually destroyed the Sorcerers' World, not realizing that he was destroying himself in the process.
Post-Zero Hour
It is unknown if the Archmage exists in some form after Zero Hour. However, his escape from the Sorcerers' World definitely never happened after Zero Hour, as the Legion's entire history was rebooted.
