Biography

Ka D'Argo

As a young Luxan, D'Argo dreamed of two things: becoming a mighty warrior and having a small farm to share with a family of his own. He followed the better-known traditions of his people and became an honorable warrior with two battle engagements to his credit. Then he met Lo'Laan Tal, a Sebacean woman, and the two fell madly in love with each other. But because of Peacekeeper prejudices, her family would never allow her to marry a non-Sebacean. The couple fled to a distant farming colony, where D'Argo established a home for them. The couple soon produced a son, Ka Jothee, and for a time, D'Argo thought he could be happy.

But when Jothee was about five or six cycles old, Peacekeeper Officer Macton Tal, D'Argo's brother-in-law, tracked the family to their refuge, and murdered Lo'Laan. Tal then accused D'Argo of the crime, arresting the Luxan while his own hands were still wet with his sister's blood. Tal blamed D'Argo's hyper-rage and at times D'Argo thought it was possible he had killed his wife in a hyper-rage blackout. Before he was taken away, D'Argo sent Jothee into hiding, fearing for his son's life. D'Argo was convicted, chained, and eventually imprisoned aboard Moya until the Leviathan and her captives escaped Peacekeeper custody.

D'Argo sported the tattooed chin markings of a general—a rank he never held. During his time in combat, he took the marks to protect a valued commander, hoping that the enemy would mistake him for his superior. His ruse worked, yet he was embarrassed by the lingering deception, but other species did not seem to notice.

D'Argo was extremely strong, well-trained in combat tactics and weapons, and shared the well-deserved Luxan reputation for violence and impulsiveness. He was often loud and blustery, and lost his temper with unnerving ease. When irritated, he was capable of lashing out with his Luxan tongue sting, temporarily stunning them. When truly angry, he fell victim to hyper-rage, attacking any other nearby males in order to establish dominance. These terrifying bouts often took days to subside. He had, through much effort, developed control over the hyper-rage, gained some serenity in his life. His anger towards the Peacekeepers was unquenchable and all the years of quiet hoped for the day when he could bring justice against Macton Tal.

Ka D'Argo was a Luxan warrior who was imprisoned aboard the Leviathan Moya by the Peacekeepers after being convicted (falsely) of killing his Sebacean wife Lo'Laan in a fit of Luxan Hyper-Rage. He later escaped (along with Rygel and Zhaan).

During his time as a prisoner, the Peacekeepers shackled D'Argo in his cell with heavy chains attached to a pair of metal hooks surgically implanted around his collar bones to keep the powerful Luxan under control. The hooks served as a reminder of his wrongful imprisonment, and thus were a source of shame. He wore these hooks until they were finally removed aboard Scorpius' Command Carrier near the end of the third season of Farscape.

Throughout the first half of the series, finding the son he had with Lo'Laan, Jothee, was D'Argo's consuming desire. After Jothee was found, his plans to settle down with his son and Chiana scared the Nebari girl, so she did something she knew he could never forgive, to scare him away from his plans of commitment- she began an affair with Jothee. As a result of the revelation of the affair, Jothee leaves and is not seen again until the Peacekeeper Wars.

As a Luxan warrior, D'Argo carries a weapon known as a Qualta Blade, a heavy broadsword that can transform into a Qualta Rifle. Though he is initially ill-tempered and distrustful during the early episodes of the show, he is later elected Captain of Moya by the crew.

D'Argo appears to have perished during the Peacekeeper-Scarran War, after being fatally impaled by a Scarran warrior. After being mortally wounded, D'Argo covers the escape of his comrades off of Qujaga, which was then accidentally destroyed by Crichton's wormhole weapon. John Crichton and Aeryn Sun then name their son, born during the battle, D'Argo, in his memory.

Overview

Personality and attributes

D'Argo is a huge, bellicose Luxan - a race of fierce, much-feared warriors known throughout the galaxy for their propensity to conquer anything or anyone in their path. Their first reaction to most every situation is to attack first and ask questions never.

While he many be all-grown up in body, he’s still an adolescent when it comes to emotions.

Powers and abilities

It is coated with a contact poison so that when the tongue hits someone it releases just enough poison to render the target unconscious. This poison is adaptive and has worked on everyone subjected to it no matter what species they were. (Episode: A Constellation of Doubt) Their tongue is also prehensile and with practice can be used to grab things and even swing from overhangs. (Episode: Lava's a Many Splendored Thing")

He came to wield a Qualta Blade that was a traditional Luxan weapon, a broadsword approximately three and a half feet long, made of an unknown heavy and durable material. It also had the ability to be converted in to a rifle, more powerful than the standard Peacekeeper Pulse rifle. Perfectly balanced, tipped, and double edged, the blade was about five inches wide, and two inches thick at its widest. After transformation the hilt of the blade became the stock and grip, the blade split to become the muzzle alignment with the energy charge firing chamber between them at the rear of the muzzle. There was no sighting scope or scope attachment meaning the gunner sighted along the edge of the blade portion.
