Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
In the 10th century, a grave threat was faced by the world with the rise of a being known as the Frost King. The danger posed by the individual led to swamp elemental from the Parliament of Trees of the era looking to gather a group of champions to stop this threat. Thus, he gathered the Amazon Queen Hippolyta and the Viking Prince where they travelled to Egypt to meet with the wizard. They came to convince him to free his fallen champion Black Adam from his imprisonment to aid in the quest. (Justice League: Endless Winter v1 #1) They travelled to the Arctic Circle in Greenland where they confronted their foe but despite their numbers they were unable to defeat their foe. This saw the champion of the Green being killed by the Frost King but his death allowed his comrades to escape. (Aquaman v1 #66) They later battled the Frost King again where their fight took them to the edge of a cliff. In the struggle, Jon fought his foe in fierce combat as he was determined to die a warrior's death as this was fated for him by Odin. He took his foe over the edge where the two tumbled into the ice seemingly to die with Jon's spirit going to Valhalla as a reward for his glorious death. (Justice League Dark v2 #29)
By the modern age, the Frost King's body was revealed to had not died and he awakened after being exposed to Kryptonian crystal technology. This caused him to go on a rampage once more as he sought to engulf the world in an ice age. To stop him, the world's superheroes gathered to oppose him where they learnt of the nature of the threat through Hippolyta. The Amazon Queen came to use a ritual to summon the spirit of the Viking Prince to aid them but he lacked a physical body. It was then that they decided to bond the spirit to a seedling of the current Avatar of the Green who had to remain in another dimension to maintain life in that realm. Thus, the Viking Prince's spirit was bonded with the seed that formed his body which gave him the powers of the swamp elemental. (Justice League Dark v2 #29) He joined the Justice League to battle the Frost King where the heroes managed to ultimately stop the man's rampage after they learnt that he struggled to control his abilities and simply wanted to be reunited with his family frozen in the ice. After the crisis was over, the Viking Prince departed his plant-based body as he wanted to return to Valhalla that his reward for his service in life where he bid farewell to his friends. (Justice League: Endless Winter v1 #2)
