Giuseppe
Giuseppe was a skilled toymaker in the Italian town of Odiare on Gothic Earth. He obsessed over making a son for himself, a puppet which he named Figlio. When it was complete, his obsession somehow attracted the attention of darker powers (likely the Red Death), which animated the toy. Giuseppe was overjoyed, but Figlio gradually grew bitter over his mockery of life.
Figlio eventually forced his creator (who grew more and more deluded) to create an army of other animated puppets- carrionettes. Figlio took the new name of Maligno, and failed in an attempt to possess his "father" (part of his curse as a darklord). Afterward, Giuseppe's creations slaughtered all the adults of the town, only leaving the children (who Maligno loved) and Giuseppe himself.
The mad toymaker remains in Odiare, as he is the only one who can repair Maligno or create more carrionettes (and other animated toys).
