Origin
Cindy Moon
When she was young, her parents found out that she had an eidetic memory with her mother wanting her to focus on her studies. However, Cindy instead wanted to continue playing hockey for her school team where she could spend time with her secret boyfriend Hector. (Silk v1 #1)
Thirteen years ago, she attended the science exhibit demonstration in the use of radioactive rays within he lab where a stray spider became irradiated and moved around the area. It had bitten Peter Parker after which it continued and bit the leg of Cindy Moon. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #1) She returned home where she developed the first manifestation of her powers when she began to uncontrollable generate organic webbing in front of her parents. The family was then approached by Ezekiel who offered his help and began training Cindy in the use of her new powers. He came to be impressed at her skill within generating webs where he told her of the threat of Morlun. Ultimately, he deemed that Cindy would be in danger of the vampire-like being and told her that she had to stay within a hidden bunker that locked her within it for her own safety. Thus, she remained trapped there for over a decade and in fear of being released as she felt Morlun would seek her out. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #4)
Spider-Verse
Whilst within her bunker, Spider-Man arrived where she warned him against releasing her as she feared Morlun would sense her freedom. Spider-Man still freed her leading to an angry Cindy attacking him for putting her in danger until the Wall-Crawler stated that he had dealt with Morlun. An ecstatic Cindy was excited at being freed and generated a costume for herself where she took the name Silk with her deciding to visit her home to be reunited with her family. Upon reaching her old home, she found that another family had lived in it and that parents as well as brother had moved away sometime ago leaving her saddened. This led to Silk asking Spider-Man when Morlun had been killed with the Wall-Crawler revealing that the vampire-like villain had returned after his first defeat. This led to Cindy realising that Morlun had not been defeated and that she was still in danger as a result with her taking out her anger on Spider-Man. During the fight, the pair were overwhelmed by their spider-instincts and had a deep passionate kiss. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #4) Peter stopped her as soon as Cindy begins to remove his mask, after which they move back to Peter and Anna Maria's apartment. Afterwards, Peter and Cindy go to the Fact Channel's news station where they are attacked by Black Cat and Electro. While Silk is easily able to dodge Electro's lightning bolts thanks to her 'hyper-spider-speed and senses', Spider-Man though was not as lucky. Black Cat then goes after the paralyzed superhero and begins to unmask him in front of live TV. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #5) Black Cat nearly had Spider-Man's identity revealed on the camera but Silk intervened where she used webbing to cover his face and rescued him where they fled the scene. Afterwards, she joined Peter when he had to showcase a demonstration of the Electro-trap to the Chief of Police. During the drive, Silk sensed danger at the Waterfront with both her and Spider-Man going for the next confrontation with Black Cat and Electro. For the fight, Cindy spun more insulated webbing around Spider-Man so that he could have a better chance against Electro. In the fight, Silk was invaluable in fighting the two villains where her electrically insulated webbing helped combat Electro and she helped save any bystanders. At the scene, Black Cat came to use the Electro-trap to cause Max Dillon's powers to go out of control and threatening to cause him to explode. Spider-Man came to save him with Silk creating a web-pod to shelter the three of them as the electro-trap was destroyed from the overload. The next day, Cindy came to apply for an internship at Fact Channel where she reasoned that it being an information centre would help her in finding her missing family. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #6)
Spider-Man and Silk discuss their problem in which whenever they get close, they feel the need to have intimate interactions as well as possible solutions to this. They end up fighting Looter and his henchmen where they are stealing equipment and Spiderling costumes from Spider-Island II. Spider-Man and Silk manage to defeat them with the help of Spider-Woman, Spider-Anya, and Spider-Man 2099 as the final henchman is defeated by Spider-Girl of Earth-982, Spider-UK, and Spider-Ham. Silk accompanies the other spider-themed heroes through the portal to Earth-13. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #9) When Spider-Man wants Silk to be among those to accompany him to gather the other spider-themed heroes, Old Man Spider-Man of Earth-4 advises that Silk should stay behind. Silk ends up following anyway which later angers Old Man Spider-Man when they arrive on Earth-928. He mentioned that Silk shouldn't have left her bunker. After Daemos was slain, Superior Spider-Man blamed Silk for Daemos' attack and suggests that they kill her. When Brix, Bora, and a Daemos clone arrive and kill Old Man Spider-Man Silk steals Spider-Man's portal device, intending to set right the deaths she caused and opens a portal while attracting the Inheritors' attention. Spider-Woman volunteers to follow Silk while Superior Spider-Man sends Spider-Man Noir to accompany them. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #10) After Spider-Man of Earth-90214 was badly injured, Silk and Spider-Woman take him back to Earth-90214 so that he can recuperate. Superior Spider-Man expresses concern since the Inheritors have already been there, but Spider-Man says Silk should be safe as long as she keeps moving and takes one of Superior Spider-Man's cloaking devices. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #11)
Realizing the area was a nuclear wasteland, she made her way to Ezekiel's bunker and encountered the Benjamin Parker of that world, contacting the other Spiders to let them know she'd found a new safe haven. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #12) Upon learning that Jessica had been stranded on Loomworld due to sacrificing her damaged teleporter, Cindy snuck away to rescue her, accompanied by Spider-Gwen. However, their rescue attempt was kiboshed when Cindy's teleporter was destroyed in an altercation with multiversal pirates, stranding them on Loomworld. Cindy protested that none of their hardships were her fault, but was berated by Spider-Woman for her incompetence and lack of responsibility. Their argument was interrupted when Verna, Brix, and Bora attacked to capture the Bride. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #13) Upon learning Cindy was in danger, the surviving Spiders, including a now-redeemed Karn, went to Loomworld for a final battle to save her and Benjy. Morlun cut Cindy's palm, severing the Bride's connection to the Web of Life and preventing new Spider Totems from arising through chance. After the Inheritors were defeated and Master Weaver was killed by Otto Octavius, Morlun, enraged, attacked Spider-Man to kill him for ruining their plans. Spider-Man created a portal to Earth-3145, then escaped thanks to Silk, who told him that, since they were bitten by the same spider, she could sense him across the Multiverse. As the Spider Army rested for a few minutes, Cindy told Peter his pheromones were arousing her, but he replied with "Cindy, honey, it's been a really long day." (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #14)
Silk
After the battle with the Inheritors, she refocused on finding her parents with the resources of the Fact Channel News, while beginning a career of crime-fighting, starting by fighting a new villain named Dragonclaw. She soon found that her parents' record had been erased, but this didn't turn her off and she kept gathering clues to their whereabouts, even going back to her old bunker, where she created an evidence board. Unknown to Silk, during all this, two mysterious figures were watching her every time she was in the bunker. (Silk v1 #1) In her investigations, she fought a skull-like robot created by Hydra and destroyed it. In the process, she also ran into her high school boyfriend, who was now engaged. (Silk v1 #2) She later had another run-in with Black Cat, who defeated her in combat. (Silk v1 #3) She also helped Dragonclaw to get his daughter back with the help of Spider-Man. However, Black Cat defeated her in combat once more and she was kidnapped by the Repairman, who revealed that he worked for the people who had her family. (Silk v1 #5) She attempted to get information from him, but Black Cat arrived and severely beat him up before he was killed by the collapse of the building. Silk was angered by this and attacked the Cat, leading her to offer Cindy a chance to join her organization. Silk refused and initially gained the upper hand against Black Cat, but she managed to escape nonetheless. (Silk v1 #6) During the final incursion, Cindy received information from J Jonah Jameson about a man named James Park, who was involved with the Goblin Nation and was suspected to be Cindy's long-lost brother Albert Moon. She went off to find him, but however due to the incursion, she had to save people from getting killed and injured. She rushed to the hospital and discovered her brother in Room 407, and hugged him in a teary goodbye, as Earth-616 and Earth-1610 collided, killing them and everyone else in both universes. (Silk v1 #7)
All-New, All-Different
When the universe returned to life, so did Silk and all of its inhabitants, with no memories of their temporary demise. Over the course of eight months, Cindy got her life back together and she even got promoted, but her parents were still missing and her brother had no memory of what had happened to them. She also started working for Black Cat as a supervillain, but this was revealed to be a cover, as she was working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to find her parents. (Silk v2 #1)
New Agents of Atlas
Whilst training with the Agents of Atlas, the Earth came under an invasion from the Dark Council during the War of the Realms. Jimmy Woo decided to respond to the attack by the Fire Demons that were looking to claim Asia as New Muspelheim with Silk joining the team in fighting the invaders at Seoul. (War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas v1 #1)
She later came to join J. Jonah Jameson's new media outlet Threats & Menaces where she began to work as a reporter. (Silk v3 #1)
Overview
Personality and attributes
When she took on a superhero identity, Cindy decided to take the name of Silk. She was regarded by the Inheritors as the Spider-Bride and the Spinner at the Center of the Web. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #4) She once took a new identity as Silkworm which she used to infiltrate New U. (Silk v2 #14)
Her mother wanted what was best for her but it was shown that she attempted to control Cindy's life and decisions. Before she was 18 years old, this led to a brief argument where she said she hated her mother though Cindy came to regret her words afterwards. (Silk v1 #1)
At school, she was involved with a boy named Hector Cervantez where the two had been dating secretly for six months without her mother being aware of it. (Silk v1 #1)
She was drawn and attracted to Spider-Man with this being a biological compulsion based on their spider instincts. This led to them kissing after their first encounter with Cindy stating that he was the first person she had kissed in ten years. Cindy was one of the few people that knew of his true identity as Peter Parker. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #5) When together, the two could hardly keep their hands off each other with Cindy saying that she had never been like this before and believed that it was perhaps not good when the two were near each other. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #6)
Powers and abilities
It was noted that Cindy had an eidetic memory that meant she remembered anything she saw which included all the bad memories. Her intelligence was tested with it being through the roof but her grades at school were only average. (Silk v1 #1)
Cindy had inherited her powers from a radioactive spider bite from the same specimen that had bitten Peter Parker. This gave her the approximate strength and abilities of a spider. Such powers included enhanced super-strength, endurance, speed, reflexes along with the capacity to stick to walls. She was able to generate organic webbing from her finger tips with a noted proficiency in this skill and could even weave this around her to make a make-shift costume. Cindy was noted for her speed that was faster than Spider-Man's and had a Spider-Sense that was superior to Peter Parkers giving her the ability to react and dodge attacks. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #4)
Silk was able to spin special kinds of webbing depending on her needs such as one that was more insulated from electrical attacks. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #6)
Similar to Spider-Man, she possessed a Spider-Sense that was said to be psychic strands of webbing reaching out into the world allowing her to sense danger. She claimed that her version happened to go further than Spider-Man's allowing her to sense threats in the general vicinity. (Amazing Spider-Man v3 #6)
