Whilst in college, he encountered a probe with a pre-recorded message from Batman stating that he along with the Justice League were presumed dead and that a protocol he designed was to recruit their replacement. Ronnie was to join the ranks of the new Justice League as Firestorm with the team being led by Nightwing.
