- Real World: January 6. Thomas Edison applies for his final patent.
- Real World: February 10. New Delhi is chosen to become the capital city of India.
- Real World: March 31. Managua, Nicaragua, is decimated by an earthquake; 2000 people die.
- Real World: April 14. The Second Spanish Republic is proclaimed.
- Real World: April 15. Mafia boss Joe Masseria is assassinated, leaving the Castellammarese faction leader Salvatore Maranzano as the "boss of all bosses" of the American Mafia.
- Real World: May 1. The Empire State Building in New York is completed.
- Real World: September 10. Salvatore Maranzano and 40 other mobsters (most of which were loyal to Maranzano) are killed, leaving control of the American Mafia in the hands of a number of prominent families led by Charles "Lucky" Luciano.
- Real World: September 18. A section of Japanese-owned rail line is blown up in what becomes known as the Manchurian (Mukden) Incident. This event is used by the Japanese to justify the occupation of Manchuria.
