Biography
James Darrell Edwards III was an African-American male born in New York City, Manhatten Island, on October 19th, 1965, to Colonel James Darrell Edwards II.
His father was later killed at Cape Canaveral on July 16th, 1969. Unknown to the young James, this was at the hands of an alien known as Boris The Animal where his father was assisting Agent K. Although James Marcus Turner was present at the scene of his father's death, he was neuralyzed by Agent K who avenged his father's death by killing Boris the Animal. As a result, James was largely unaware of why his father was absent during the majority of his adolescent life, as he was only 3-years old at the time. The only memento J had of his father was his fob watch. James then followed in his father's footsteps, and, years later, became a police officer. James would later joke about he would play catch with his father when he was a kid except he would throw the ball, and it would just hit the wall because he was never there.
In third grade, he believed his teacher, Miss Edelson, was an alien from the planet Venus, to which he claimed everyone thought he was crazy. He graduated from the Westchester County Police Academy in Valhalla, New York in 1992. His last ID photo was renewed in 1994. Originally, James came to be a police officer in the NYPD. During his time as an officer, which he officially became in 1996, he attended and was a VIP member of a popular gym in New York Gold's GYM.
In May 17, 1997, James chased down an extremely fast alien, disguised as a human. When he finally caught up in the roof of the Guggenheim museum, the unknown alien gave James a serious warning concerning the Earth, before jumping off a building. Sometime later James was interrogated by a fellow officer. Once this officer left the room, a man in a black suit Agent K walked in and explained to Edwards that the human he had chased down was really an alien in disguise. Then Kay takes James for a ride as James asks Kay if he works for the FBI, NSA or CIA and Kay tells him that he works for an organization to monitor aliens on Earth. They go to a nearby pawn shop owned by yet another alien, named Jack Jeebs. Edwards then points out the weapon that the alien he had chased down had owned. Once Edwards explains all of what he knows, he is then neuralyzed. K and Edwards go to a restaurant to eat. About the majority of the meal, Kay cracks himself and gives an MiB card to Edwards, which has an address on the back and tells him that he will see him in the morning.

Agent J was an ordinary human being with no inherent special abilities. By adulthood, he came to be trained to be a police officer at the NYPD.
