Biography

The new Kraven in The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #251.

Alyosha Kravinoff was the son of Sergei Kravinoff, half-brother to Vladimir Kravinoff and nephew to Dmitri. It was said that he was born in the heart of the African jungle around 21 years ago with him being raised there. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #252)

Following the death of Vladimir, he considered himself to be the last surviving heir of Sergei the Hunter. This saw him relocating to New York City where he came to reside in the mansion that was owned by his father. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #252)

Whilst in New York, he found his uncle Dmitri fleeing a confrontation with Spider-Man and attacked him where he pretended that he was his older deceased brother Sergei Kravinoff. The Chameleon was shocked at the encounter and came to believe that what he was seeing was simply a figment of his delusion. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #244)

Alyosha looked to confront Spider-Man though not out of an act of revenge but more to get to know his own father Kraven the Hunter. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #252)

He later went before his fathers grave when he was approached by Calypso who believed him to be Kraven and kissed him but he then rejected her stating that the Kraven she knew was no more. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #249) At his lair, Calypso had managed to make her way there where she made advances towards him with the two sleeping together. It was then that he laughed and revealed that he was not Sergei Kravinoff but was instead his son who had claimed the name Kraven the Hunter. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #250)

The hunter came to attack Spider-Man firing bullets at him and using potions that left the hero unconscious. However, rather than kill him, he took Spider-Man to the Kravinoff mansion where he revealed that he had no intention of killing 'the Spider'. Instead, he wanted to use this encounter to learn more about his father Sergei. Through their talk, he came to learn about Spider-Man's encounters with Kraven the Hunter and the events that led to his eventual death. Alyosha was grateful for Spider-Man revealing this information but then the building they resided was attacked killing a number of Kravinoff's animal companions. This forced Alyosha and Spider-Man to work together where they came to learn that their attackers were men that once served Sergei Kravinoff but had since fallen under the control of Calypso. She had decided that Alyosha was a traitor to the legacy of Kraven for working with his father's enemy Spider-Man. Falling into an animal rage, Alyosha attempted to attack her but was then drugged with a potion. Holding him hostage, she managed to get Spider-Man to surrender where she took both captive. Calypso then used her potions to instil Alyosha and Spider-Man into a animalistic state where she forced them to fight one another as her ultimate act of revenge against them. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #252) The two battled where despite his battle rage Alyosha came to be nearly overwhelmed by Spider-Man. However, 'the Spider' came to his senses where his intense willpower allowed him to break through Calypso's control and injure her to distract her from her spell. He then freed Alyosha where together they fought against Calypso's henchmen whilst she made her escape though she came to be confronted by Alyosha's pet lion Guladkin. Guladkin nearly ate her but was stopped by Alyosha who seemingly looked to put an end to further hostilities as he made peace with both Calypso and Spider-Man. He told Spider-Man to leave her to him and that the enmity the Kravinoff's had would be put to a rest. Trusting Alyosha, Spider-Man left the scene and Kravinoff went to his family mansion. However, he came to murder the Kravinoff henchmen and kill Calypso leaving her dead body in the mansion whilst in an animalistic rage. (The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #253)
