Biography

Origin

Cho in Heroic Age: Prince of Power v1 #1.

Amadeus Cho was a male human bon in the modern age where he was the son of Helen Cho and Phil Cho.

When he was in the 4th grade, he was bullied by other children which was when he first began to invent new worlds as the current one hurt him. It was then that he began to get into roleplaying games as he enjoyed crafting elaborate stories for his players. (Incredible Hercules v1 #137)

Unknown to Cho, his intelligence classed him as a Hypermind and made him a target of a similar such individual named Pythagoras Dupree who wanted to eliminate rivals to himself as he descended into paranoia. (Incredible Hercules v1 #137)

After evading people pursuing him, Amadeus found an abandoned laboratory made by Banner within the cave and used the equipment to contact Reed Richards. The contact was used to hack his equipment where he discovered the recording of Richards and his colleagues sending the Hulk into space. Cho then hijacked satellites and performed calculations to locate the world that Richards had said they had sent the Hulk where they claimed he was leading a peaceful life. Amadeus then discovered that the Hulk was not present on the world thus shocking Reed with the pair unaware of where the shuttle had taken him. He then warned Reed that the Hulk would return and he would be angry whereupon he left the lab to escape any attempt at apprehending him. (Incredible Hulk v2 #100) He next came upon She-Hulk after her powers were stripped from her by nanobots when she turned against S.H.I.E.L.D. to save her cousin. Cho attempted to recruit her aid in finding the Hulk but she refused as Amadeus was a wanted fugitive with her somewhat agreeing with the actions that sent her cousin into space. However, Doc Samson arrived at the scene intending to arrest Cho with Jennifer Walters seeing the damage done by him causing her to turn on him. In the confusion, Cho went back on the run and sought out the Champions who were noted friends of the Hulk in order to enlist their aid. (Incredible Hulk v2 #106)

Hercules

Amadeus finally confronts Dupree in person, and learns that Dupree was not aware of Amadeus' sister being missing. Amadeus also learns that his destiny was to be the new hero of the modern era of reason and to stop the 'primordial darkness'. Dupree then challenges Amadeus to a specialized version of Russian roulette, which Amadeus refused to do, leaving Dupree to simply shoot himself. After grieving about the situation, he then discovers the truth about Hera's mysterious 'Continuum' project. (Incredible Hercules v1 #137)

A funeral service is held at the Parthenon in Athens, where a tearful Amadeus demands Athena show herself and pay her respects. In her place appears a collection of Earth's heroes including Thor and the Warriors Three, Bruce Banner, Skaar, Namor, Namora, the Black Widow, Wolverine, Angel, and Snowbird. Athena finally arrives and reveals that Amadeus is the new leader of the Olympus Group. (Hercules: Fall of an Avenger v1 #1) Some of the other gods object and each chooses a mortal proxy to do battle for them. But the combatants ultimately turn against the gods, and Phobos uses his power over fear to manipulate Hades into opening a portal to the Underworld. Amadeus travels into the land of the dead to look for Hercules and meets Persephone, wife of Hades. She tells him that Hades would not have allowed him in if Hercules' soul had been there. The following Monday Athena arrives at Olympus Group headquarters to find that Amadeus has accepted her offer and is now acting as CEO. He tells her that he is not her champion, he was Hercules' champion, and that he will be using all the powers given to him to find Hercules. (Hercules: Fall of an Avenger v1 #2)

Sometime afterwards, he came to join the ranks of the Illuminati who were attempting to save the world from the threat of the Multiversal Incursions. However, he group came to be regarded as wanted fugitives that were to be arrested on site leading to them having to remain on the run. Cho was dispatched to S.H.I.E.L.D. Golgotha Station that was formerly Avengers Tower in order to gather a much needed item. He was detected where he attempted to escape but he was captured by the Invisible Woman who was working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to arrest her husband. (Avengers v5 #35)

Totally Awesome Hulk

Months ago, an incident emerged off the Kenyan Coast on Kiber's Island whose reactor overloaded and threatened to kill millions. The Hulk arrived at the scene to contain the danger but the energy was being absorbed into his body thus threatening to kill him as well as explode. A number of Avengers top minds attempted to find a solution with Amadeus Cho arriving at the scene where he learnt that they intended to send the Hulk into the Negative Zone to die from the explosion. Cho evaded an attempt to sedate him and used Sterntech nanobots to absorb the excess energy where he transferred the power of the Hulk into himself thus saving his friend and causing Bruce Banner to be turned to normal. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #4) With this power, Cho decided to operate as a new incarnation of the Hulk and attempted to be a superhero where he claimed that he was fully in control of his abilities. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #1)

However, early into his adventures, Amadeus showed difficulty in keeping his range under control when pushing his strength to incalculable levels to save the day. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #3) In addition to this, Amadeus' condition as the Hulk forced him to repress his emotions to control his powers. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #5)

Amadeus' self-control was particularly put to the test following Banner's death at the hands of Hawkeye during the second superhuman civil war. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #9)

Later on, Cho was rescuing a Russian spacecraft when he's attacked by two Adamantium cyborgs. After destroying them, he finds Old Man Logan, Sabretooth and Domino, who tell him that the robots were created by Weapon X to exterminate them. While researching the metal samples gathered by the mutants, Amadeus remembers that the robots were able to get a sample of his DNA. His DNA samples are given to Weapon X Project's director, a revived William Stryker. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #19)

Upon his return to Earth, the Hulk-persona in his mind took dominance and locked Amadeus's mind within the trunk in their consciousness. The Hulk-persona then took over the body and claimed that it was simply Amadeus who had mastered the two sides of his mind with no one initially aware of the change that came upon him. (Incredible Hulk v1 #714) Cho took over but the Hulk threatened his sister Helen leading to him once more relinquishing control. (Incredible Hulk v1 #715) Despite that being the case, he managed to send subtle twitch's into the Hulk's body to provide information to Helen whilst various superheroes battled this dark Hulk who refused to be depowered. (Incredible Hulk v1 #716) His sister Maddy used counterbots to undo the Sternbot machine Amadeus had placed in his own body to control the gamma energy thus weakening the dark Hulk. In a battle within his mind, Cho defeated the dark Hulk by siphoning away the gamma energy. However, rather than destroy his dark persona, he simply reabsorbed it as he acknowledged that it was simply the anger and resentment within him over his life. Thus, he lost much of his gamma form and appeared as a slimmer green-skinned form. With the crisis ended, he was arrested by Alpha Flight for the damage he had made and in three months it was decided that New York City was not going to prosecute him but he needed to pay over $10 in damages. This was the combined fortune of the Olympus Group that went into receivership and he was removed as the company's CEO. Cho was remorseful over his actions though his sister and their friends accepted him back once he was released from custody. (Incredible Hulk v1 #717) He returned to join the Champions where his more weakened form led to him adopting the name of Brawn. (Champions v2 #22)

Brawn

He then accepted to go to Jimmy Woo's Agents of Atlas to take part in training alongside Kamala with the pair getting into an argument. During this time, the War of the Realms came to Earth as the forces of the Dark Council had come to invade the planet. Ms. Marvel went to join the Champions whilst Cho went with Woo and the Agents of Atlas to combat the invasion of Fire Demons in Asia. (War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas v1 #1)

Overview

Personality and attributes

He was awarded the title of Mastermind Excello thus earning him the position of '7th Smartest Man in the World'. (Incredible Hercules v1 #137) After gaining the Hulk's power, he also came to be referred to as the Hulk. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #1) After he lost much of that power, he retained some gamma enhanced strength and referred to himself as Brawn. (Champions v2 #22)

Within his mind, years of resentment and hatred had partly developed in him that rooted in his persona. These included all the times he was bullied or his guilt over the death of his parents and also when he got angry at something being forgotten. (Incredible Hulk v1 #717)

In terms of faith, Cho was a Methodist. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #20)

Powers and abilities

Amadeus was said to possess a Hypermind that allowed him to calculate a whole range of possibilities of every possible situation in any kind of quantum state. This allowed him through the act of observation and measurement to determine the state that was most favourable to him. As a living hypercomputer, he could observe the Multiverse on an infinite number of levels. (Incredible Hercules v1 #135) He was able to conduct complex calculations in a short amount of time. Amadeus could use this for practical effects such as calculating the trajectory of an item thrown in order to discern where it can do the most damage. (Amazing Fantasy v2 #15) As such, Cho was capable of situationally operating several magnitudes beyond that of a normal human. (Avengers v5 #35)

At one point, he wore an advanced suit that appeared as a business suit which he referred to as Calvin Klein. It was equipped with an artificial intelligence with the three-piece suit being made of hyperdyne fiber similar to that used by Vindicators Suit from Alpha Flight. However, Calvin was powered by quantum folds, isometric solar threads and bio-electrical feedback. A cochlear implant allowed him to communicate with the suit and its intelligence regularly offered advice, information from its database and was able to engage in assault mode. (Savage Hulk v1 #3) Among its other abilities was creating a shield to block weapons, flight though reduced power could only offer hovering capabilities and it had a universal translator. (Savage Hulk v1 #2)

He later gained the ability to transform into a gamma-powered being at will thus giving him all the abilities of the Hulk. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #1) Typically, Gamma Radiation destroyed organic matter but Cho had used nanobots of Samuel Stern's designs to process the energy in his body. It was powered by the hidden fears and hatred he had within his mind with this rage powering the dark Hulk persona. (Incredible Hulk v1 #717) A special arm-band that allowed him to trigger his transformation giving him the power to shift between his human and Hulk form at will. (Totally Awesome Hulk v1 #1)
