The Bat-Wave was actually a form of computer network that was developed by Bruce Wayne following him embarking on his career at Batman.

(Episode: Traction) Its search function determined that a criminal later revealed to be the Penguin had been training birds to conduct crimes. (Episode: Call of the Cobblepot)

Bat-Wave tapped into police communications to inform Batman of a disturbance indicating the latest theft by the Catwoman. During their later battle, a fall by Batman led to his utility belt being damaged which allowed Catwoman to steal it. She later examined it at her apartment where Selina Kyle would try to study it though her examinations led to the remote activation's of the Batbot and the Batmobile. This forced Alfred Pennysworth to disconnect all the Bat-Wave receivers that were stored at a set location within the Batcave. (Episode: The Cat and the Bat) It later notified him of Firefly who was engaging in various acts of corporate sabotage in the city on behalf of GothCorp. (Episode: The Big Heat)

When Ethan Bennett was transformed into Clayface by Joker Putty, the Bat-Wave notified Bruce Wayne of the incident. He later intercepted the transmission that said that Chief Rojas was being taken by Clayface to the East Gotham Gym. After Ellen Yin decided to join forces with the Batman, the Dark Knight provided the detective with a device that sent a transmission on the Bat-Wave that would call for help. (Episode: The Clayface of Tragedy)

The system notified Bruce Wayne that the Joker had stolen the Gotham Globe and was carrying it around town. (Episode: Brawn) When the Digitally Advanced Villain Emulator lose in the city, the artificial intelligence managed to deduce Batman's true identity. This led to the machine breaking into the Batcave where he threatened to destroy the Dark Knight by hacking the Bat-Wave and revealing his identity to the public through it. However, Wayne managed to defeat D.A.V.E. and stopped the Bat-Wave from uploading the information. (Episode: Gotham's Ultimate Criminal Mastermind)

Whilst making a presentation on WayneTech nanotechnology, Bruce Wayne received a signal on the Bat-Wave that notified him of Joker breaking into a site causing him to delegate the demonstration to one of his employees as he quickly left the building. (Episode: The Metal Face Of Comedy)
