Biography

Origin

Clarice Ferguson was a female human Mutant who came lived in the modern age. The first time her Mutant ability manifested resulted in her waking up several hours later in a pool of blood. It was then that she vowed to never use her powers against another living being. By the time she was an adult, the world suffered an invasion by the techno-organic Phalanx that were looking to assimilate human life. However, they came to face difficulty in assimilating Mutants leading to them abducting several of their kind for study. Clarice came to captured and was among several young Mutants that were being studied for assimilation with a Phalanx named Harvest responsible for this project. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #317)

Her soul was shown in the Underworld of Erebus where the deceased gambled for their resurrection. Unlike others, Blink was shown to simply watch the gambling matches. (Incredible Hercules v1 #129)

Necrosha

In reality, Blink was trapped in a realm between life and death where she came to cry out in agony. She remained trapped there for many years until Selene arrived at the site of Clarice's 'death'. With her powers, Selene came to free Blink from the realm she was in and came to recruit her after claiming that the X-Men had abandoned Clarice. (X-Necrosha: The Gathering v1 #1

House of X

After the establishment of Krakoa, the living island was declared a sovereign nation for all Mutants. Blink came to be among those accepted the invitation to relocate to the island. She was noted to had participated in combat in the Quarry against Nightcrawler where the two ended in a draw. (Cable v4 #1) Afterwards, she was recruited into the newly re-established S.W.O.R.D. program where she was assigned to the Teleport Team established by Commander Abigail Brand. (S.W.O.R.D. v2 #1)

Personality and attributes

Due to her abilities, she came to gain the nick name Blink. (X-Men v2 #37)

Powers and abilities

With these phasing pulses, she could deal incredible damage to a target by cutting through them. Her mutagenic energies could also be used to create spatial-shearing over an area to destroy an enemy. (X-Men v2 #37)

  • Blink was created by Scott Lobdell and Joe Madureira where she made her first appearance in Uncanny X-Men v1 #317 (October, 1994).

Television

  • In X-Men, Blink made a cameo appearance in the setting of the 1990s animated television series in the episode "One Man's Worth".
  • In Wolverine and the X-Men, Blink made a cameo appearance in the setting of the animated television series.
  • In The Gifted, Clarice Fong appeared in the setting of the 2017 live-action television series where she was portrayed by actress Jamie Chung.

Films

  • In X-Men: Days of Futures Past, Clarice Fong appeared in the movie where she was portrayed by actress Fan Bingbing. She was shown to reside in the alternate post-apocalyptic future where the Sentinels controlled the planet with Blink being part of the X-Men.

Video games

  • In X-Men: Legends II, Blink appeared in a supporting role in the game where she was voiced by actress Tara Strong. She was shown to be in Genosha when it was attacked by the forces of Apocalypse. Sabretooth tried to save her but he became separated from Blink who got stranded in the Dead Zone. She was rescued by the X-Men and Brotherhood who allied together against a common foe. After being saved, she makes use of her abilities to help them fast travel by way of teleportation to various locations.
