Biography
Brent Jackson was a male human born in the modern age where he came to be a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. where he was a special agent for the organization. (Wolverine v2 #163)
Years ago, he was part of a field team headed by Nick Fury when they were shutting down an Advanced Idea Mechanics operation. One of the A.I.M. agents turned out to be a Mutant who had taken a civilian hostage. Fury had attempted to de-escalate the event only for Agent Jackson to kill the A.I.M. where he came to be reprimanded for his actions. Unknown to anyone, the entire incident was being seen by Malcolm Colcord who decided to recruit Jackson into the new Weapon X program that John Sublime was rebuilding. (Weapon X v2 #23)
When Wolverine was framed for the murder of Senator Walsh, an operation was arranged by the Director with the intention of arresting him. However, Nick Fury could not be assigned onto the task due to a conflict of interest with Agent Jackson being tasked with heading the mission to capture Logan. Brent intended to kill his quarry and utilised a Life Model Decoy in the form of Nick Fury where a message was from him to Wolverine that was calling for a meeting at a safehouse with the intention of helping Logan. Upon arriving at the scene, Wolverine determined that the Nick Fury on the scene was a fake and he decapitated the robot but found himself and Beast surrounded by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents led by Agent Jackson. Colcord then suspended him from duty and imprisoned him. Eventually, the director decided to return Jackson to duty but under close observation. (Weapon X v2 #½)
Jackson then cleverly worked to gain the trust of misfit agents such as Wild Child, Sauron, and Washout. (Weapon X v2 #25) When Colcord became wrapped up in his newfound relationship with Agent Aurora, Jackson used this moment to stage a coup with his small faction of agents and a truce with the Underground. Upon his success, he turned on the Underground and declared himself the new director of Weapon X. (Weapon X v2 #26)
