Biography

Captain Atlas was a male member of the Kree race who by adulthood had joined the military of the empire where he became one of the Motherworld’s most decorated soldiers. (Quasar v1 #10)

He first met Doctor Minerva when he was sent to Earth to retrieve her after she had signaled the Kree Empire that she had successfully unlocked her body's genetic potential. Minerva took a liking to Atlas and shared the Psyche-Magnitron process with him, causing him to transform into a superbeing who she considered to be her most eugenically ideal mate. As they were preparing to leave Earth, Atlas saw images of the Quantum Bands worn by Quasar and believed that they might be the legendary Power-Bands of Rinn. (Quasar v1 #10)

Posing as "Mr. Atlas" and "Dr. Minerva" from Xenotech, the two Kree attended the the first international weapons exhibition to be held by A.I.M. and offered to pay them $100 million per bracelet if their technicians could acquire working replicas of the Quantum-Bands. A.I.M. sent M.O.D.A.M. to take them from Quasar but he defeated her. (Quasar v1 #9) While in a New Mexico desert, Atlas and Minerva secretly watched as Quaser found and captured Halflife. Apparently obtaining the specific energy signature of the bands at that time, the two Kree were then able to track him to his home in Connecticut and, once he had fallen asleep, they used a synaptic disruptor to make sure he remained unconscious while they abducted him to their starcruiser. However, when Minerva's attempt to obtain the bands led to her trying to use a laser to cut off his left arm caused Quasar to awaken, he swiftly defeated both of them and ordered them to stay away from Earth in the future. (Quasar v1 #10)

After escaping capture, he along with Minerva went to meet the Supreme Intelligence who had gathered the Starforce. Att-Lass though felt that the theft of the Omni-Wave Projector was a stain on his honor and that he was denied a warriors death. The Supreme Intelligence came to stop any in-fighting amongst the Starforce and asked them to be united in their defence of the empire. (Avengers v1 #346)

In actuality, this suicide was merely a tactic which Atlas and Minerva used to covertly escape from the Avengers by teleporting away under the cover of the blast. They ended up on a remote planet where they planned to become the parents of a race of Kree supermen. When the Silver Surfer happened to encounter them there, Minerva and Atlas attacked him but were easily defeated. Atlas again posed as a suicidal warrior, claiming that he had intended to kill himself on Hala but had lost his nerve and now felt that his honor demanded that he die because he had disgraced himself. Taken in by this ploy, the Surfer agreed to leave them there and keep the fact that they were still alive a secret. (Silver Surfer v3 #39)

The renegade Captain Atlas sought a means to establish a new Kree empire under his rule. To achieve that, he decided he needed an army and thus came to Earth where he hired the Spymaster. The assignment was to hire a team of criminals to break into Stark Tower to steal the entirety of Iron Man Armors. These were to be used for his forces with him participating in the heist whilst disguised as the Titanium Man. Atlas planned for the supervillains never to find out who the buyer of the Armors was but the criminals accidently were transported onto the Kree ship. This resulted in a battle with them as Iron Man sought to recover his stolen property with the Kree warrior attempting to crush Tony Stark. During the battle Captain Atlas was seemingly killed by the Unicorn. (Infinity: Heist v1 #4)

Overview

Personality and attributes

He considered Earth to be a breeding ground for Meta-Mutants and that humans were a dangerous as well as unstable race. Atlas regarded the species as being unstable both emotional and mutagenically which he regarded as a deadly combination. In terms of threats, he preferred fighting shapeshifting Skrulls over the unpredictably powerful inhabitants of Earth. (Quasar v1 #10)

Powers and abilities

At the academy, he studied Galactic Weaponry with his Professor covering such objects such as the Power-Bands of Rinn, Soul-Gems, the Skrullian Cube and the Ultimate Nullifier. (Quasar v1 #10) In time, he came to be considered the greatest warrior within the Kree empire. (Avengers v1 #346)
